Traffic Jam in Baton Rouge

Two measures, House Concurrent Resolution 100 and 192, soared through Legislature this last week. The two measures are designed to resolve the traffic problem that plagues Baton Rouge. This will make moving from one side of the Mississippi River to the other much easier, as well as ease commute times.

HRC 100 proposes a 4 lane highway connecting Interstate 10 in Port Allen to Interstate 310 in New Orleans. HRC 192 proposes a new bridge in Iberville Parish over the Mississippi connecting La. 1 and La. 30. The hope is that the bridge, estimated at $800 million, will be done by January of 2015.

As of right now the Iberville Parish is one of the only Parishes in the state where you still have to use a ferry to cross the Mississippi River.

Traffic reaches its peak in the afternoon when it bottlenecks at the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge. It is estimated that 47,000 vehicles travel through La.1 near the Waterway Bridge, and a new bridge would diffuse some of the congestion in this area.

All My Sons is located a few miles east of the bridge and we see the traffic affect both our staff and customers every day. Hopefully we will see a solution to this problem soon so we can get you moving in Baton Rouge or out as quickly and easily as possible.

If you’ve seen our moving trucks driving around any time recently, you probably know that we are proud sponsors of the annual St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. On top of spreading the word via St. Jude decals on our moving trucks, your Baton Rouge local movers also helped to raise more than $821,000 for the cause! St. Jude recently presented your movers here with a commemorative plaque thanking us for our efforts in sponsorship.

St. Jude’s Dream Home Giveaway of 2012 has been a lot of fun for us here at All My Sons Moving & Storage of Baton Rouge. We especially enjoyed being featured on live TV for a telethon broadcasted by ABC! And the fun was well-deserved; together, we helped brighten a lot of children’s futures, and that puts a smile on each of our faces!

Change is good! People often move because of the changes in their lives; traveling for school or being moved by your employer as part of a promotion are great reasons to move. There are also those who relocate to a new town simply for the sake of change! Change is great for many reasons, it can be inspirational, or it simply be a refreshing change of pace compared to what you’re used to day to day. So when it comes to moving in, why not embrace change within your home as well? Variety is the spice of life, and something as simple as a new furniture layout can spice up your life more than you may think! Your Baton Rouge mover isn’t suggesting that you can change your life simply by caddy-cornering your bed for the first time, but I am suggesting that change is enjoyable (even if only a small change.) Check out this useful tool your Baton Rouge relocation specialist found for planning your new furniture layout, and revel in the feng shui paradise that is your new Baton Rouge home!

State representatives and local business owners near in Baton Rouge are currently hashing out electoral opposition as it applies to a particular four-mile stretch of highway. Local shops and restaurants near Perkins Road are protesting the proposed widening of Interstate 10 on the basis that construction would obstruct the flow of traffic and thus their flow of customers. Your local Baton Rouge movers know that the state’s dilemma regarding I-10 is a difficult one; on one hand the daily bottle-necking of traffic presents the need for a solution such as widening the highway, while on the other hand Baton Rouge’s local businesses and business owners must be preserved and protected in order for the problem to truly be solved.

Your Baton Rouge mover recently donated many plump and soon-to-be-tasty turkeys to the society of St. Vincent de Paul. The local catholic organization is dedicated to helping out in the Baton Rouge community, kind of like your local mover here! Thanks to the St. Vincent de Paul folks, your reputable relocation specialists in Baton Rouge were able to make one of many donations which will allow the charitable organization to continue its annual tradition of providing delicious turkey dinners to families in need during the Holidays.

Dear Baton Rouge Movers,
During this season of thanksgiving, we are more grateful than ever for the support of people who share our concerns for the poor and homeless. Your donation of turkeys could not have come at a better time. Every year on Thanksgiving Day, we serve a traditional meal of turkey with all the trimmings, and you are helping to ensure that our Thanksgiving tradition will continue for the needy in our community.

At St. Vincent de Paul, we have been overwhelmed by the number of people who can no longer afford basic necessities like food. In our community, there are thousands of households where people are eating less or skipping meals just to make ends meet. Our Dining Room is working hard to keep up with the growing demand, but as the economy continues to struggle, we are seeing more new faces every day. Last year, we served over 218,000 meals – a new record – and, unfortunately, this year, we are on track to exceed last year’s all-time record.

The demand is high and resources are limited, but thanks to the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community, we have not had to turn anyone away.

Thank you again for your generous donation.

Best Wishes and Happy Thanksgiving,

-Michael A, President/CEO
